Wedding Signs

Custom Wedding Signs for Every Ceremony and Reception Theme Wedding Signs may not be the first stationery pieces that come to mind during your planning journey, but they are one of the most important details for creating a seamless guest experience on the big day. From welcoming your loved ones the moment they arrive to directing them to the ceremony, bar, guest book station, and their reception table, wedding signs help guests to navigate the exact timeline of your celebration.  The Knot offers a comprehensive collection of artist-designed wedding signs, thoughtfully created to complement your wedding invitations, save the dates, and free wedding website. Choose from welcome signs, direction signs, seating charts, and a variety of tabletop and bended signage designed for bars, guest books, favors, and dinner menus. Crafted from durable materials suitable for both indoor and outdoor venues, our wedding signs help guide guests through every stage of your event while elevating your ceremony and reception décor. Design Authority The Knot offers a premium collection of custom wedding sign templates crafted by real artists to complement every aesthetic. To bring these designs to life, we provide a range of high-quality signage materials carefully engineered to accommodate every venue layout, whether indoor or outdoor. For indoor celebrations, we recommend our indoor foam core, while for open-air receptions, our weather-resistant outdoor corrugated plastic is the go-to choice. You can easily upgrade your luxury festivities with our acrylic or mirrored acrylic materials for a light-catching quality that photographs well, or choose our bended plastic tabletop signage for a durable option that handles plenty of table movement and those accidental spills.  All-in-One Vision Match your ceremony and reception signage with your printed stationery and digital wedding website. Every unique template is color-matched and typeset to coordinate with your save the dates, wedding invitations, ceremony programs, and day-of paper. Your celebration will feel thoughtfully polished while giving your loved ones an intuitive experience, from the moment they open your invitation to finding their names on your seating charts. Every sign is rendered in the same design of your choosing for a beautifully coordinated look that weaves its way through your event from beginning to end.  Fully Customizable Templates Take the creative reins using our online editing tool, where you can fully customize our welcome signs, seating charts, direction signs, tabletop, and bended signage. Our editor fully supports the upload of personal monograms, custom couple sketches, or watercolor venue artwork to make your wedding signage entirely your own. Our templates handle multi-column lists and text alignments, ensuring that complex details like a multi-course dinner menu or signature cocktail ingredients remain scannable at first glance for your guests. Frequently asked questions What wedding signs do you need? Every wedding needs a welcome sign, a seating chart, and direction signs to reassure arriving guests that they are in the right venue space and know exactly where to sit during your reception. Once you have these essentials covered, you can build out additional signage, such as a signature bar menu, dessert stations, restroom pointers, guest book prompts, and "in memory of" displays with our customizable tabletop signage.  When should I order Wedding signs?  It depends on the sign! Some can be ordered months in advance, while others need to wait until your guest list is finalized. Here's a simple timeline to keep you on track: 6–12 months out —Start researching styles on The Knot from our extensive, ever-growing collections from traditional, Art Deco to moody Gothic, all of which are fully customizable to your liking.2–3 months out — Order signs that are not dependent on the finalized guest list. Options at this stage include your Welcome Sign, Bar Menu, Guest Book Sign, and Cards and Gifts Sign.3–4 weeks out — Once RSVPs are in and seating is finalized, place your order for guest-specific signage like your seating chart. and Place Cards. Where should wedding signs be placed? Wedding signs should be placed at eye level in areas where your guests naturally gather, such as by the venue entrances, along the main pathways, and on your service tables. Make the most of your venue's natural lighting and choose your material accordingly. Use outdoor corrugated plastic to stake firmly into lawns and sidewalks, and reserve indoor foam core or acrylic signage for display tables and indoor easels.  Can wedding signs match invitations? Yes, The Knot's custom wedding signs are designed to coordinate with your save the dates, wedding invitations, and printed stationery. The same templates, typography, and colorways carry seamlessly from your guests' mailboxes all the way to your venue décor. What size should wedding signs be? Wedding sign sizes scale based on their intended role, from extra small tabletop signs to large day-of signage. Large focal points like welcome signs, direction signs, and seating charts range from 18”x24” to 24”x 36” as these require a sweeping canvas so the text can be read by many guests from a distance. Auxiliary details and station-specific notes, such as signature cocktail ingredients or guest book reminders, are best presented on space-saving formats such as bar, favor menu, and tabletop signs, which start from 8’x 10’ to 11” x 14” to keep your reception tables looking elegant and uncluttered.  How many wedding signs should you order? Most couples require a recommended 5 to 10 wedding signs to manage guest flow without visually overwhelming their ceremony and reception spaces. While ordering too few signs can leave family and friends feeling disoriented, cluttering your event footprint can also detract from your overall venue aesthetic. A well-rounded order typically includes one large welcome sign, one seating chart, two direction signs, and two to three tabletop signs. Are wedding signs only for decoration? No, wedding signs are essential beacons that keep your guests in the right place and communicate wedding services. While premium material upgrades like our acrylic and mirrored acrylic are certainly more decorative than our standard foam core and plastic options, their core purpose is a practical one. From politely enforcing an unplugged ceremony to outlining the gift table, custom signage keeps your big day running smoothly. What are the different types of wedding sign material? The Knot offers five premium wedding sign materials tailored to suit every venue setting, style preference, and budget. To help you match your design vision to the perfect material, our collection is broken down by thickness from 3-5mm, texture, and best use: Outdoor corrugated plastic (4mm): Built to brave all sorts of weather, this lightweight and weather-resistant plastic features a matte surface. It is the ultimate go-to choice to stake into lawns or display as sidewalk and venue exterior signage without warping or fading from exposure to the elements.Indoor foam core (4.76mm): Designed for indoor celebrations, the material's foam construction is featherlight and smooth to the touch. The foam core provides a clean presentation that is ideal for display on tabletop stands or easels.Plastic (4.26mm): Serving as our most versatile option, this solid material features a smooth and semi-gloss surface that works beautifully both indoors and outdoors. The durable, moisture-resistant build resists bending and is enduring against repeated handling, making it perfect for high-traffic entryways where you can display welcome or direction signs.Acrylic (3mm): Acrylic is a high-gloss material without the fragility, but with all of the beauty of glass. Best used to elevate your festivities with a sleek and ultra-modern finish. Colors pop beautifully against it, and because it is translucent, it catches the room's lighting, illuminating your indoor signage. Mirrored acrylic (3mm): Taking the luxury factor up a notch for glam or high-end wedding aesthetics, this indoor material features a fully reflective and polished mirror surface. As our most premium material, its luminous quality catches the eye from across the room, making it the ultimate defining piece for a bold and upscale entrance that guests can see their reflection in.
